VIVO (not an acronym) brings together in one site publicly available information on the people, departments, graduate fields, facilities, and other resources that collectively make up the research and scholarship environment in all disciplines at Cornell.

Search VIVO for information about faculty, departments and research units, undergraduate majors, graduate fields, courses, research services and facilities --- anything related to academic and research pursuits at Cornell.

The VIVO project was initiated and resides in the Cornell University Library, with support from the Office of the Provost. Technology development and disciplinary content entry are directed by appropriate subject experts in the Library, who are also part of the VIVO project team.

The Networked Semantics Team at the Escuela Politécnica Superior of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid focuses its research and development work in the area of semantic-based knowledge technologies. We are concerned with aspects such as representing, sharing, retrieving, and exploiting knowledge and services on large-scale networked environments, and the impact of these techniques on the way humans interact with such environments and among each other.

The DBpedia data set is a large multi-domain ontology which has been derived from Wikipedia. The DBpedia data set currently describes 2.6 million “things” with 274 million “facts” (November 2008).

The Web Science Research Initiative (WSRI) is a joint endeavour between the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT and the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at the University of Southampton.
