Lateralization of brain function

an entertaining talk making the point that incentives do not help people solve problems that require imagination, or thinking sideways, and instead hinder them.

Has a moving image that claims it helps distinguish people who are more left brain or right brain. It is fun, but how true is it really? Wonder what study this is based on.

The trick to make the woman change direction is to hide all but the feet by putting a paper or hand in front of it. Then relax yourself into allowing those to move into the other direction. When that occurs remove your hand, and she will keep moving in the same direction.

Long article taken from New Scientist 2000 detailing the research on that topic at the time. Seems like there is support for general specialization of the brain in terms of processing strategies. It turns out the team had to retract their initial article after finding a complex case that did not mesh elegantly with their theories (see end of article). It would be interesting to know where this has gone since then...
