Following the lead of Iraqi shoe-thrower Muntazer al-Zaidi, Code Pink on Thursday launched its own protest using footwear. The anti-war group known for disrupting congressional hearings featuring prominent Bush administration officials gathered in Washington Thursday to put hundreds of shoes in front of the White House. The group also hung shoes outside a Marine Corps recruiting station in Berkeley, Calif.

Comedians can't seem to get enough of that shoe-throwing incident in Iraq. President Bush was shown over-and-over ducking the shoes thrown by an Iraqi reporter during a Baghdad news conference. David Letterman joked that Bush "hasn't dodged anything like that since, well, the Vietnam War." Jay Leno wanted to know where the Secret Service was. He asked, shouldn't they have "at least jumped in front of the second shoe?"
