The Suggested Upper Merged Ontology (SUMO) and its domain ontologies form the largest formal public ontology in existence today. They are being used for research and applications in search, linguistics and reasoning. SUMO is the only formal ontology that has been mapped to all of the WordNet lexicon. SUMO is written in the SUO-KIF language. SUMO is free and owned by the IEEE. The ontologies that extend SUMO are available under GNU General Public License.

Friend of a friend (FOAF) is a phrase used to refer to someone that one does not know well, literally, a friend of a friend. In some social sciences, the phrase is used as a half-joking shorthand for the fact that much of the information on which people act comes from distant sources (as in "It happened to a friend of a friend of mine") and cannot be confirmed.

DBpedia is a project aiming to extract structured information from the information created as part of the Wikipedia project. This structured information is then made available on the World Wide Web.[2] DBpedia allows users to query relationships and properties associated with Wikipedia resources, including links to other related datasets.

dbpedia lite takes some of the structured data in Wikipedia and presents it as Linked Data. It contains a small subset of the data that dbpedia contains; it does not attempt to extract data from the Wikipedia infoboxes. Data is fetched live from the Wikipedia API.

We shared an update last week about the products launched at f8 and that over 50,000 websites have already implemented the new social plugins to become more personalized.
