STW Thesaurus for Economics

The Suggested Upper Merged Ontology (SUMO) and its domain ontologies form the largest formal public ontology in existence today. They are being used for research and applications in search, linguistics and reasoning. SUMO is the only formal ontology that has been mapped to all of the WordNet lexicon. SUMO is written in the SUO-KIF language. SUMO is free and owned by the IEEE. The ontologies that extend SUMO are available under GNU General Public License.

Time Explorer. The application will be eventually be a showcase for the functionality of the LivingKnowledge project. This current version is designed to demonstrate the current state of the project using the NYT collection as part of the HCIR challenge.

LivingKnowledge goal is to bring a new quality into search and knowledge management technology for more concise, complete and contextualised search results.

Basic Formal Ontology (BFO) consists in a series of sub-ontologies (most properly conceived as a series of perspectives on reality), the most important of which are:
* SNAP - a series of snapshot ontologies (Oti), indexed by times
* SPAN - a single videoscopic ontology (Ov).
Each Oti is an inventory of all entities existing at a time.

A Knowledge base is a special kind of database for knowledge management. It provides the means for the computerized collection, organization, and retrieval of knowledge.

Matterhorn is a free, open-source platform to support the management of educational audio and video content. Institutions will use Matterhorn to produce lecture recordings, manage existing video, serve designated distribution channels, and provide user interfaces to engage students with educational videos. The first release, Matterhorn 1.0, includes the following features:

* Administrative tools for scheduling automated recordings, manually uploading files, and managing metadata, captioning and processing functions
* Recommended capture agent hardware specifications
* Integration with recording devices in the classroom for managing automated capture
* Processing and encoding services that prepare and package the media files according to configurable specifications
* Distribution to local streaming and download servers and configuration capability for distribution to channels such as YouTube, iTunes or a campus course or content management system
* Rich media user interface for learners to engage with content, including slide preview, content-based search and captioning

Matterhorn is also a framework of media services. It is therefore highly configurable to meet individual institutional needs.
