マクロな状態を特徴づける量にエントロピーがある。エントロピーとは何か？これはマクロな状態を特徴づける量としかいいようがない。例え話で、乱雑さを表す量だとか、熱を表す量だとか、系の持つ情報だとか言うことができても、それは問題を言い換えた*1に過ぎなく、本質ではない。特に統計力学の発想から来る乱雑さを表す量は注意だ。

自分の感想をいうと、相互エントロピーなど、情報理論からのエントロピーの定義の仕方は、量子論的な定義の仕方よりもうまくいくのではないかと思う。
ボルツマンは、等充率の仮定を大胆に持ち込むことで、統計力学を創始したけど、情報理論からエントロピーの枠組みを決める方が広い現象を扱えるのではないかと思う。

さてところで、可逆計算は十分な計算能力を有するのでしょうか？ フレドキン（Fredkin）ゲートのような可逆ゲートの組み合わせで、非可逆計算をシミュレートできます。ベースとなる可逆計算（可逆回路）に対して、その一部をヒープとゴミに割り当てれば、どんな非可逆計算でも作れるのです。そういう意味では、可逆計算の計算能力は十分です。
